Beeswax Candles

Between moving half  way across the country  and one of our fur babies getting sick and having to spend a week at an emergency clinic,  our Christmas budget was a little bit lower than usual, so I decided to do more Hand Made Gifts this year! All women love candles right? Inspired as always by the lovely ladies over at A Beautiful Mess I decided to make all of the women in my family (plus myself) Beeswax Candles. Why beeswax you may wonder. Most commercial are made with chemicals that can be harmful to your health. Beeswax is very different, it’s all natural, non-toxic, non- polluting, hypoallergenic, and have a sweet honey aroma. It actually cleans your air of odors, pollens. smoke, dust, viruses, and other allergens and is the only true air purifier. The only candle for anyone who has chemical sensitivities or allergies like myself. Studies have shown beeswax helps with: Improved air quality, improved sleep, enhanced immune system, relief from allergies, less severe asthma attacks, improved concentration, balancing of hormones, and a sense of wellbeing Now onto the fun part! 1. Supplies: Beeswax, wicks, glass jars, candy thermometer, double boiler, and essential oils for scent if desired. (I made [...]

Evelyn Sophia Embroidery

My friend Rue and his wife had a baby March 8, 2013 named Evelyn Sophia. This was one of my gifts to them! I created the letters in Illustrator then transferred them to fabric and hand embroidered them. I know, I know, I know…she was born in March and I’m just now posting pictures…Rue sent me pictures of her room so the colors are inspired by that. This took so long, I’m not sure I will ever offer this in my store. Maybe if enough people express interest but for now, it’s something special I do for friends. 🙂

Colorful Garland in January

First let me start off by stating that one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to make a new piece of art and a new crafty project each month. I get stuck in ruts in which I only paint TOMS and do graphic design work. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job…jobs…but I miss making art and crafting so much!! So my Dream Catcher was my art piece for January and now here’s my craft project! I know, I know…Christmas decorations in January…I’ve wanted garland like this for years but couldn’t never find a good price on felt balls or had the time to try to make that many! A few years ago I decided to knit a garland that looks really cool off the tree but is not noticeable on the tree so still, I wanted the felt ball garland!! Well, the other day while exploring the newly opened Paper Source here in Denver, I found these felt ball necklaces on sale for $5 each!! I immediately purchased all they had…. I took the necklaces home and broke them apart. I then restrung them placing the felt balls in RGB order and added little sparkle between each one. [...]

Pink Sangria

Some friends of ours invited us to Enchi-Sundae which will be a party including enchiladas and ice cream sundaes on Sunday. Feeling the need to bring something, I decided to make some Sangria! They will try it tomorrow but I’ve already tried it and it’s DELICIOUS and easy to make! Pink Sangria adapted from youresomartha – 2 (750ml) bottles of chilled White Zinfandel. (The cheaper the better because with all of the other ingredients, you won’t taste the wine anyway) – 12 oz lemonade. (I used Simply Lemonade. Their small bottle is 13.5 oz so it leaves you just enough to take a sip.) – 3 cans of Blood Orange Sanpellegrino (I forgot to get Ginger Ale and was lucky enough to have this in the fridge.) – ¾ cup vodka – 4 oz can of pineapple chunks with juice – 1 pack of fresh strawberries cut into pieces – 2 green apples chopped I first poured the wine, lemonade, Sanpellegrino, and vodka into the container and then stirred. NExt I added the pineapple chunks with the juice, (the pineapple will fall to the bottom), chopped apple, and the fresh cut strawberries and gave it another good stir. Put it [...]

Purple Hair & Stripes

I used to do a few outfit posts here and there but never felt natural doing them so I deleted them all. Now, I realize I should not have deleted them because…this may sound vain but I like going back through old pictures of myself to see myself grow and change. See which hair styles look good…or which ones don’t. I always view pictures differently after time has past. Since I do this blog for myself and don’t allow any comments, I decided I’m going to do an outfit post every month. Plus, I don’t have enough clothes to do one weekly let alone daily!!

July 4, 2012

For the 4th of July we decided to load up the weenies and head out past Morrison, CO to hang out by the river with our good friend Johnny and his dog Junior. Yoshimi was really hesitant at first but eventually had a blast playing the water. Rivers in Colorado are so different from the rivers I’m used to in the South. They are clear, they don’t smell, and there is nothing hiding in the murk that could seriously harm you if not kill you. Oh my knee is all lumpy and scraped because I fell on a rock as soon as we arrived.

Texas June 2012

As many of you know both sides to our families are from East Texas so we make trips back about twice a year. This trip was filled with lots of food, family, babies, and doggies!! I didn’t think to pull my nice camera out until the last day so I’m warning you, there are lots of pictures of adorable dogs!

Home Tour

I’ve had a few requests to post pictures of our new home. I know, I know, we moved in back in February but we just have not finished decorating yet. So I’m going to tease you guys room by room as we finish them. We rent the first floor of a what I guessing to be late 1800’s or early 1900’s house in the Baker neighborhood in Denver. It’s the perfect size for our little family and even has a backyard!
